
With profound sorrow, the Glay and Clarke families announce the death of Joanna Beulah Clarke (Weewee) Glay. She passed after a brief illness.
This sad event occurred Feb. 20, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia.
She leaves to mourn, her son, Bernd Yaba Glay and her grandchildren Tito, Stevorne, Jodie, Alfma and Keema. She also had three surviving siblings: her twin sister, Joetta Clarke Dennis; her younger sister, Sandra Clarke Monger; and her brother Ralph Bunche Clarke; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives, neighbors and friends.
Joanna was predeceased by her husband, Mr. James Glay (2005), her daughter, Marnayee Gigi Glay (2007), and her son Michael Glay in 2020.
Joanna was born on July 5, 1947, in Arthington, Liberia, to the union of Ned. R. Clarke and Louise Hill Clark who predeceased her. Her siblings Edwin J. Clarke Sr. and Annette Clarke Henry and a host of cousins and foster siblings also predeceased her.
A registered Nurse, Joanna was trained in Bonn, Germany, where she got married and lived from the late 1960s to the early 1970s.
She later served her country for more than 30 years at the JFK Medical Center and the Seventh Day Adventist Clinic in Sinkor.
Joanna was a member of the Paynesville Central Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Funeral and burial arrangements will take place in Liberia on March 21 at the Paynesville Central Seventh Day Adventist Church at 9 a.m.
Her body will be interred at the Clarke family cemetery in Arthington, Liberia.
May her soul rest in God’s perfect and perpetual peace.
