March 29th, 2025
With profound sorrow, we received the heartbreaking news on March 11, 2025, of the unexpected passing of our esteemed leader, mentor, and cherished friend, the Honorable Roland Walter Morris Sr., fondly known as Boi Ro.
During the late 90s, we had the privilege of meeting Boi Ro through our work at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Republic of Liberia. From the very beginning, it was clear that he exemplified the qualities of a true Distinguished Gentleman. Boi Ro was a man of unwavering purpose and unshakable integrity, embodying a rare blend of wisdom, compassion, and resolute determination. His kindness and generosity were not mere gestures but intrinsic qualities that defined his very existence. With an innate ability to inspire and uplift, he left an indelible mark on countless lives, both within the Ministry and beyond. His presence radiated an authentic warmth that fostered deep connections, making him a beacon of guidance and strength to all who crossed his path.
Boi Ro was a man of sharp intellect and unwavering dedication to every initiative and project he undertook. Structured and principled, he played a crucial role in shaping the Intellectual Property Act in Liberia. Due to his quiet strength, exemplary professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence, the Intellectual Property Act was successfully enacted. As the principal coordinators (Secretarial Staff) within the Minister’s Office, we collaborated extensively with Boi Ro on every initiative, meticulously executing his directives with precision and unwavering attention to detail (smile we remember).
Boi Ro was a man with a strong moral compass and a deep sense of fairness, always making sure that everyone who contributed to a project was rightfully compensated for their work. Bo Ro’s deep wisdom and boundless compassion allowed him to recognize the goodness in everyone he met. Boi Ro exuded an air of effortless elegance, his impeccable sense of style complemented by an undeniable confidence, refined sophistication, and a distinctly masculine grace that commanded attention wherever he went.
In early 2024, the President of the Business Community, formerly the Ministry of Commerce (Minister’s Staff) in the 1990s, Ms. Matilda Okai-Johnson, had a long-awaited reunion with Boi Ro. After years of separation, their meeting proved to be profoundly impactful, setting the stage for a series of ambitious and pragmatic initiatives. Together, they identified key projects to be realized in the coming years, particularly for 2025-2026, outlining a strategic path forward. Tragically, with Boi Ro’s untimely passing, a significant void has emerged, leaving those projects suspended and the future uncertain.
Boi Ro possessed an impeccable blend of humor and intellectual sharpness, a character both audacious and elegantly composed. Truly, Boi Ro’s existence was a paragon of admiration, a life woven with threads of aspiration and reverence. Boi Ro has left an unforgettable impression on everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy will remain eternally etched in the fabric of our hearts and minds. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
Boi Ro, we love you, but God loves you BEST!!
Rest in Peace Honorable Roland Walter Morris Sr.
