It is with heartfelt sorrow that the King and Wesley families announce the peaceful home going of Odell G. King, devout mother, respected sister, faithful parishioner, caring aunt and cousin, sincere friend, and selfless daughter who sacrificially took care of her mother upon her stay in the U.S. for many years. Odell was born in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, Republic of Liberia to Mrs. Adeline Wede King and Mr. Edward Sekou King on March 13th, 1948. She gave birth to her beloved daughter in 1986, who she raised to value education, good work ethic, and integrity. She worked as an early childhood educator for over 30 years in Southwest Miami-Dade County, Florida before retiring. Odell was affectionately known as Auntie Odell, ‘Sis’, ‘Cuz’, and Friend. Odell had a discerning spirit and she was thoughtful, supportive, giving, and loved by her family and friends. We will miss her thoughtful and calm nature that was admired by those around her. These qualities have left a lasting impact on her family, friends, and all who came to know her.
Odell was predeceased by her mother, Adeline Wede Wesley, her father, Edward Sekou King, and three brothers: Cecil Tonie King, Lowell Wesley, and Edward Julius Wesley, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Maima Wede Radcliffe and three sisters: Madelyn Vanmeerbeek (King), Keo Godu (Wesley), and Sharon Chew (Wesley); one brother: Robert King; and a host of nieces and nephews as well as cousins and friends in Liberia and the United States.
