The Davies, Clement, and Ajavon families announce, with profound sadness, the death of Andrew Togba Davies, Jr., affectionately called JB or Junior Boy. Andrew was born October 8, 1964, in Monrovia, Liberia, unto the union of Andrew Togba Davies, Sr. and Equa Hannah Clement Davies. He went to sleep peacefully on January 23, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. Andrew cherished his roots and carried the memories of his birthplace, Liberia. Andrew resided in Raleigh, North Carolina, for over 30 years, where he became an integral part of the community.
Throughout his life, Andrew had a diverse range of interests, but his first love was his faith in Jehovah God. He dedicated his time and resources to spreading the Good News of the Kingdom, as a devoted servant of Jehovah. Andrew was baptized at the District Convention in Salisbury, NC, on June 24, 1995. This was a momentous occasion that solidified his unwavering commitment to his spiritual beliefs.
During the course of his life, Andrew affiliated with various Congregations, including Paynesville, Liberia; Herndon, Vienna, and Fairfax, Virginia; Carolina Pines, Reedy Creek and Brentwood East, Raleigh, North Carolina.
Andrew’s appetite for knowledge was insatiable, and he constantly sought opportunities to learn and grow. His educational journey led him to France in late 1981, where he pursued continued studies at the Centre for Applied Linguistics in Besançon. In 1982, he moved to the United States with his family, settling in Reston, Virginia. Andrew graduated from McLean High School in Fairfax County, VA in 1991. He also briefly attended the University of the District of Columbia, Washington, DC. In the early 1990’s Andrew studied Fine Arts at Wake Technical College, Raleigh, NC. JB also enthusiastically participated in vocational classes.
Andrew also found joy in artistic expressions such as music, dance, and poetry, often collaborating with like-minded individuals who shared his creative spirit. JB’s love for writing led to his publishing of a short book, “Unity is the Answer.” He generously volunteered his time to helping others through his extensive Pen Pal Network.
Andrew worked diligently at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport as a TSA employee. His commitment to his work was driven by his desire to serve and ensure the safety of others. Those who knew Andrew will always remember him as the most kindhearted and loving person. His infectious smile and warm presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
JB had a zest for life and embraced every moment with an enthusiasm that was contagious despite his disabilities and challenges. He reminded everyone to “Have faith,” and “Don’t worry, “Be happy!” Andrew was a huge lover of food, especially FUFU and Liberian Pepper Soup,
Andrew Togba Davies, Jr. leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, faith, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. As we honor his memory, let us carry his spirit of joy and compassion in our hearts forever, as he rests peacefully in Jehovah’s memory.
