It is with profound sadness that the Lloyd and Pippins families announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother, Betty Marpue “Tete” Lloyd, who peacefully departed this life on July 21, 2026.
Born in Liberia into a large and loving family to Nathan Lloyd and Louise Pippins, Betty’s life was marked by resilience, determination, and unwavering love for those around her. She later migrated to the United States, where she made Staten Island, New York, her home. There, she became well known throughout her community as a talented and highly respected seamstress, using her remarkable gift to serve countless families with skill, creativity, and care. In her later years, she retired to Florida to be closer to her loved ones.
Betty possessed a larger-than-life personality. She was fiercely loving, outspoken, and generous—a woman who never hesitated to stand up for those she cared about. Her warmth, strength, and selflessness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her, and the legacy she leaves behind will continue to inspire generations to come.
She was predeceased by her sisters Helen Lloyd Massaquoi and Miriam Esther Lloyd.
Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Kamari Lloyd; her cherished grandchild, Meleton; her siblings, Nathaniel “Shoe” Lloyd, Arthur Lloyd, Lucelia Sayah Barchue and other siblings; as well as her beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who will forever treasure her memory.
Funeral services will be held at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Clearwater, Floridaon Wednesday, July 29th, 2026 at 12pm. The public viewing will take place from 10am-12pm before the service.
