Ellen Augustus Houston age 75, passed away peacefully on Friday February 12th 2021 at her residence in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She was born on April 16th 1945 in White plains, Liberia to the late Ellen King Houston and the late Marcus J Houston. She attended Lutheran Training Institute, St. Theresa’s Convent and College of West Africa, where she later went on for further studies.
Besides being a recognized certified Notary Public where she had a practicing firm on Broad street. She also worked at Commercial bank as a teller and Montserrado Group of companies in the human resource department. Being entrepreneurial she started a few businesses and managed those successfully until she left Liberia.
In 1990, she moved with her family to Amsterdam The Netherlands, where she continued working in her faith and started a church in The Netherlands as well as a foundation called the New Covenant Fellowship to help the less fortunate and disheartened.
The soft-spoken Sue Ellen is remembered for her role in the formation of the organization that represented the Liberian Community in Holland in the ’90s! That was before LAH. As well as giving all those she touched love, joy and happiness. She was a bit of a prankster as well. Always giving, singing, dancing and making everyone smile and laugh around her.
A great mother, sister, grandmother, friend and a beautiful person.
She leaves behind to rejoice in her moving on to a better world her Only child Edwina Jenny Taylor Flathen.
