It is with a heavy heart that the Thomas, Bruce, and Rennie families announce the death of Dr. James C. Thomas. Dr. Thomas departed this world Saturday morning, July 29, 2023, in England after a protracted illness.
Dr. James C. Thomas, a 1960 Alumnus of Saint Patrick’s High School, was born in Belmont, St Andrews, Grenada on the 25th of December 1938 unto the union of Hugh and Liline Thomas. He spent his early years in Grenada and immigrated to Liberia in his early adolescence under the guidance of his Grand Uncle Christopher Henry Rennie, Kakata, Margibi. Dr. Thomas graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in 1960 as the Valedictorian along with his cousin, Dr. Emmanuel Mark, who graduated as the Salutatorian. He later went on to study medicine at the University College Dublin in Ireland. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Emmanuel Mark became owners of the West Clinic on Lynch Street until the Civil War in 1990.
Dr. Thomas leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Gloria Bruce Thomas, and children: Donald (Pauline Topping), Lena (Ashton Marshall), Rodney (Caroline Hemmingway), James (J.C)-(Janell Moore), Noel (Nicole Robinson), and foster daughter, Kathleen Curry. He is also survived by siblings: Mrs. Lera Bernard (UK), Laura Thomas (USA), Sybil Andrew (Grenada), Geraldine Thomas (USA), Pim Thomas (Grenada), King Thomas (Grenada), Wellington Thomas (USA), Agatha Morris (USA), Henry Thomas (Trinidad) and Alfie Thomas (UK). Dr. Thomas’ grandchildren are Amy Marshall, Robyn Marshall, Thomas Marshall, Naomi Thomas, Kara Thomas, Ava Thomas, Tracy Jensen (USA), and Angel Kortee (deceased). Dr. Thomas is survived by his cousins, Clifton Rennie, Ashley Rennie, Dr. Emmanuel Mark (Althea) and Lorraine Rennie Morris. Additionally, Dr. Thomas leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews including Pauline Thomas (UK), Debra Paul (USA), Mrs. Cathy Mason (USA) and many other relatives and friends.
