He fought a good fight. He kept his covenant with his Almighty God. He stayed faithful and obedient to God as he struggled throughout his illness. But in all God preserved a crown of righteousness for him. Praises be to God for his life.
The Gbanapolor, Johnson, Boakai & Koyan families with heavy hearts announce the homegoing of Beyan Gbanapolor, Sr., also known as Uncle Ben, a Patriarch of the family, a father, husband, uncle, and friend to so many that came to know him.
Beyan Gbanapolor was born on February 20, 1953, in Liberia West Africa. He came to the United States in 1978 and settled in Trenton, New Jersey. He transitioned to eternal rest on September 25, 2023, at home with his family. He was 70 years old.
He was predeceased by his parents Beyan Gbanapolor and Lorpu Kuwu Johnson, his daughter Janneh Johnson; his sisters Zubah Kallai Johnson and Klubo Gino Johnson; his brothers Koiyan Gbavo Johnson, Emmanuel Tyler and Mulbah Kowu Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Latu Gbanapolor; his daughters Yassah Johnson, Linda Johnson, Lorpu Johnson and Evelyn Nah; his sons Beyan Gbanapolor Jr. and Robert Gbanapolor; his grandchildren Demetrius Gbanapolar, Amos Johnson, Siah Johnson, Ben Johnson and Amos Johnson; his sisters Cecelia Johnson; Selina Boakai (sister-in-law), Janet George (sister-in-law), Yolanda Bonner-shah (sister-law), his brothers Morris Boakai, Moses Koyah, Flomo Garwoloquoi Johnson, James Wolobah and Nahbi George (brother in-law); his nieces Shaquana Bonner, Miatta Passaway, Maima George, Evelyn George; Latu George; his nephews Lawrence Johnson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
We would love for you to join us as we honor his life on October 27, 2023, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Calhoun Street, Trenton, NJ. Viewing will be from 10am – 11:00am and the funeral will be from 11:00am – 12:00 noon. The entombment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Greenwood Avenue, Hamilton, NJ.
