It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt regret that the Collins, Bohlen, Neufville, Garber, Smith and Ellis families announce the passing of Samuel Sie Collins, who transitioned to be with our Lord on March 21, 2025, at the age of 78. This sad event occurred at North Flushing Clinic in Queens, New York, at 5:53 PM.
Samuel Collins was born on February 7, 1947, in Grand Cavalla, Maryland County, Liberia, West Africa, to the union of the Honorable Samuel Sie Collins, Undersecretary of the Interior in the Tubman administration, and Wede Bohlen from Harper City, Maryland County, Liberia. Sam was a devoted son, father, grandfather, steadfast relative and friend. His life was an excellent example of faith compassion, and service. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Camp Johnson Road, Monrovia, Liberia.
Sam resided with his aunt, Mrs. Charlotte Collins Bedell on Clay Street, Monrovia, while completing his elementary education. Afterward, he enrolled at B.W. Harris High School and graduated in 1968. Sam was an avid athlete, playing on the basketball and football teams, and showcased his excellent musical talent as a member of the school choir.
Sam migrated to the United States in 1971 to pursue higher education. He accomplished his goal in 1997 by graduating from Queens College, New York with a B.A. degree.
Sam Collins leaves the following family members to cherish his memory: son, Moses H. Collins (Kuku); grandson, Martin Collins; Cousins, Marie Morais Garber {Joseph), Louise Morais Neufville, Farrington Smith (Annetta); Clemenceau Urey, Joyce Harris Burnette, Dr. James K.B. Collins (Barbara), Charles Kimber (Munah), Victoria Collins Ireland, Anna Collins Peabody and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE:
The body will be cremated and the Urn will be provided to his family. There will not be a Funeral Service in the United States.
INTERMENT:
There will not be a Burial Service in the United States
