
The Gibson and Ogunti families announce with profound sadness the passing of Mr. Samuel B.A. Gibson III. This mournful happening occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa.
The late Samuel BA Gibson III, commonly called “Junior” or “Meios” by his family and friends was born in LAMCO, Yekepa. He is predeceased by his parents, Mr. Samuel B.A. Gibson, II, and Mrs. Comfort Ogunti Gibson. He leaves to mourn his loss his fiancée, Madam Audrey Zoe Johnson of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority, his sisters Roselind Gibson Mellish (John), Patricia Gibson, Theola Gibson, Genevieve Barrow Gongar (Weryonwon), Sonja Gibson, Famatta Gibson Johnson, Vivian Rennie, and Carmaline Rennie, and brothers Lawolo Gibson, Ledgerhood J. Rennie (Victoria), and Ashley I. Rennie Jr. (Florence), and step mother, Mrs. Vivian A. Gibson of the USA and Liberia.
His children Kenneth, Michelle, Bendu, Arnold, Ledgeta, Sandra, and Nhyira and grandchildren also mourn his loss along with other relatives and friends.
Sam was a former student of the Cathedral High School and Ricks Institute and a 1984 graduate of Fatima High School in Harper, Maryland County. He was a renowned basketballer of the famed triple champs squad of the Invincible Eleven basketball team and the Lone Star of Liberia.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Removal and Wake-keeping
Removal will occur at the Samuel Stryker Funeral Parlors at 5:00 pm on Thursday, February 20, 2025, and wake-keeping service will be held at the Trinity Cathedral on Broad Street from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Funeral Service:
The funeral is scheduled for 10:00 am on Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Trinity Cathedral. Thereafter, interment will take place at the Kaiser Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Brewerville City.
