The Morgan and Smith Families announced the sudden home going of our brother Rev Dr. J Eric Morgan who went home to be with the Lord on 6/30/2023.
Eric served as Senior Pastor of Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Creedmoor, North Carolina for over thirty years. He started his journey in ministry at a very young age. He graduated from Liberia Baptist Seminary College in 1983. Eric served as Interim Pastor at Salem Baptist Church Brewerville, Liberia from July 1985 to December 1986, Pastor Faith Baptist Church Paynesvlle, Liberia. His quest for higher education and service led him to the US to pursue a master’s degree of Divinity/Christian Education Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, North Carolina. He also earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Erskine Theological Seminary, Due West, South Carolina. Clinical Pastoral Education, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers Shedrich Cooper (Lucy), James H Morgan Jr (Peggy), Rev Edwin G Sherman (Quenah), Wiston Morgan, Joseph Morgan and Richard Morgan, his Church parents Mr. & Mrs. Edward and Mary Louise Lyons, sisters Jewell Crews, Sonya Blow (Johnny), Nieces Monique C Morgan, Denise L Carter, Satara G Sangai, Ophelia Furgerson, Mckenzie Daniel, Kristian Daniel and Nephews James H Morgan III, William Wilson, Tristan Gaylord, and Trevor Daniel and a host of relatives in the United States and Liberia.
He was predeceased by his Parents Mr. & Mrs. James H Morgan and Beatrice Smith Morgan, his brother Emmet Morgan and sister Ida Morgan.
Services for J Eric Morgan III will be held on July 15, 2023. The funeral services will be held at South Granville High School at 11am. Public viewing will be at 10am.
