May 21, 2023 to May 21, 2024
Gbi, Daddy, Dad, Community Man as you were affectionately called, we your children and siblings on Earth cannot believe a year has gone by since you left us to be with your creator, parents, and other faithful departed uncles, aunties, cousins, and family members. As we mournfully celebrate one year of your departure from this Earth, it seems like only yesterday when we all were physically together.
The anniversary of your death has given us the opportunity to reflect on what you meant to us and to countless others today and for years to come. As a: 1) Life-Long Learner and Inquirer; 2) Public Servant and Pan Africanist; 3) Community Leader and Activist; 4) Man of Faith; 5) Consummate Professional; and 6) Family Conscience. You were a fertilizer that germinated abundantly wherever you were planted. Within the family circle, you were the unifier, and at the community level an organizer, historian, researcher and activist par excellence.
You devoted your life to serving, and while you never sought recognition, your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. You were very humble. Humility was the solid foundation of your life virtues. True humility is intelligently self-respect, which keeps us from thinking too highly of ourselves. It makes us modest by reminding us how far we have come short of what we can do.
Gbi, if you could hear us, we would surely tell you that your passing has created a big vacuum, especially for your children, siblings, family, and friends who interacted with and cared for you during the last year of your life on Earth. As a caring person, your kind and generous spirit brought joy and love to many lives, particularly Liberians and other nationals living in the East Coast especially Newark, New Jersey, USA.
Finally, Gbi, we want to inform you if you could hear that while your passing has created a vacuum in the family, it has also united and brought us closer together. We miss you and want to assure you that your memory will forever be in our hearts until we meet in the great beyond.
We love you and miss you very much, Gbi
From your Children, Brothers, Sisters, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
