Mrs. Victoria Wleetah Patterson Okyne

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Mrs. Victoria Wleetah Patterson Okyne. Mama gained her wings on June 20, 2023.
The late Mrs. Victoria Wleetah Okyne was born on the 17th September 1939 unto the union of Mr. Marcus Kofa Patterson and Mrs. Sarah Wonnoh Patterson.
She started her primary education at the St. Anne’s Catholic primary school in 1944.After completing her primary education, she went on to start her secondary education at the St. Joseph’s Convent until 1958 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. She and her younger sister, the late Mrs. Elizabeth Baryonnoh Kelley left Freetown to join their father in Liberia where she studied at the TNIMA to become a nurse.
She is survived by her children: Abraham J. Okyne, Jr/Christine, Pst Wilhelmina Aba Okyne, Patricia Drohdee Okyne, Emelia Weewee Monger/Hezekiah, Joyce Sokopay Greene, Beatrice Darwen Norman/George, Etmonia Jima Wheaton/Victor, Catherine Esi Okyne and her surrogate sons, Joshua Kwesi Okyne and Charltz Quartey. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, her beloved Episcopal church family, a host of loved ones in Liberia and the Diaspora, and 32 grandchildren. Her husband, Abraham K. Okyne, Sr and children, Edmund Kofi, Victoria Akua, Emmanuel Kojo and Rose Agatha predeceased her.
She had four brothers who predeceased her: Sylvanus Kpan Lewis, Jarwlee Lewis, Victor Patterson and the one surviving brother, Larry Worjloh Patterson. Four sisters: The late Mrs.Lucy Droh Robinson, The late Mrs Elizabeth Baryonnoh Kelley, The late Miss Audrey Patterson, and the only surviving sister, Mrs Elizabeth Bloleh Sawyer of the UK.
And when the journey finally ends, we’ll claim a great reward, and find an everlasting peace together with the Lord. Rest well mama, rest!
Removal from St. Moses Funeral home: Friday, July 14,2023 at 4 pm and
taken to the St. Thomas Episcopal church in New Kru town Lagoon
Wake keeping: 6 to 9pm
All tributes will be paid at the church.
Funeral Service: Saturday, July 15,2023 at 10 am St. Thomas Episcopal church New Kru town Lagoon
Interment will follow at the St. Moses cemetery.
A celebration of Life memorial will be held in Arlington, TX on September 16, 2023. Details to follow.
