With heavy hearts, the Bedell’s, Collins, Vinton’s, Landfords, Woarts, Elliotts,Woods, and Coleman families announce the passing of their beloved matriarch, Mrs. Charlotte Nyemade Collins Bedell. She went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the home of her daughter, Anne Bedell Benjamin and her son in-law Pierre Benjamin, in Dumfries, Virginia, USA. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Mr. J. Wah-Doe Bedell Sr., her Siblings Mary Collins, Dr. Daniel Collins, Annie Kehinde Popoola, Rev. Emmanuel Collins, Thomas Collins and her daughter Josephine Wade Bedell. She is survived by her sister Mrs. Annie Collins Newton, her 3 children; Eugene Bedell Sr., J Wah-Doe Bedell ll., Anne Bedell Benjamin (Pierre Benjamin) and a host of other relatives. She is also survived by her grand children Eugene Bedell Jr., Varsay Kiawu, Eugenie Selimaj(Albi Selimaj), J Wah-Doe Bedell lll, Jamal Bedell, Dr. Corey Benjamin, Christopher Benjamin, Jermaine Himie Bedell and one great grandson, Edoni Selimaj.

Mrs. Charlotte Bedell was a devoted mother, teacher for over 30 years, guardian, and guiding light to her family. She was also mother to the following:
Raised as Her Own: Gbutu Kla Bedell, Daniel S. Bedell, and Theodosia Bedell.
Nieces & Cousins Raised: Nerisa Thomas, Atim Thomas, Dupe Bedell, Abraham K. Bedell, Rose Bedell, Nyemade Collins, Sie-anyene Bedell,Theodosia Moore, Viola McGill, Klade Landford, Elizabeth Landford, Nmano Landford and Jerry Freeman.
Funeral Arrangements
The funeral service is planned for Saturday, September 12, 2026 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 43600 Russell Branch Pkwy, Ashburn, VA 20147.
- Viewing of the body and tributes from 9:00am to 11:00am (St. David’sEpiscopal Church).
- Church Service from 11:00am to 1:00pm (St. David’s Episcopal Church).
- Interment is at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd., Fairfax, VA. 22032.
- Repast will be in Virginia. Information will be provided at the Service
