The Sumowalt, Korkorlie, and Lamadine families announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, Mrs. Cecelia Korto Sumowalt, who quietly transitioned peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the SOS Medical Hospital
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, relative, and friend whose life touched many people. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Cecelia K. Sumowalt was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Roosevelt Loryee Sumowalt.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing nine (9) children: Ms. Rebakah Bertsche; Mrs. Veronica B. Harding Weay-Mr. Christoper Weay; Mr. Emmanuel Cooker; Mr. Roosevelt Sumowalt; Ms. Famatta Sumowalt; Mrs. Julie Sumowalt Massaquoi – Mr. Lemuel Massaquoi; Mr. Allen Rufus Sumowalt; Mrs. Kumba Sumowalt Browne-Mr. Nyemah Browne; and Ms. Mercy Sumowalt. She is also mourned by (son)Akerte’ Sumowalt, who preceded her in death; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two (2) brothers, three (3) sisters, numerous nephews and nieces, and a host of relatives, friends, foster children, and loved ones.
FAMILY MEETING
The first general family meeting will be held at the residence of the deceased at 4:00 PM on September 27, 2026, in the R2 Honey Bee Community, immediately after the football field.
Family members, relatives, friends, and well-wishers are encouraged to attend.
Funeral Arrangements are as follows:
On Friday, November 6, 2026, wake keeping will be held at the family home at R2 Honey Bee Community, immediately after the football field beginning at 6pm.
On Saturday November 7, 2026, the body will be removed from the Abraham Roberts Funeral Home and funeral Services will take place at 9am at the Effort Baptist Church on Weaver Street, Paynesville, Liberia.
Interment Follows immediately at the family Farm in Bensonville, Liberia.
