The Gurley, Karnga and Hodge families respectfully announce the passing of Makeda Karnga Gurley, who departed this life on Monday, September 21, 2026, at her residence on Benson and Robert Streets, Monrovia, Liberia.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John M. Gurley, and her daughters, Ora Nannie Collins Whitfield and Billie Jane Collins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Isabel Karnga, sisters-in-law, Frances Gooding Karnga and Hannah F. Gurley, her three children, Milton Gurley (Sabah), Sciafa Gurley (Latoya), and Princess Gurley Jones (Melvin), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter; as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews, extended family, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
