
It is with deep sorrow, profound respect, and heartfelt honor that we, the family of Mr. James Cambric Dennis, Sr., announce his passing at the great age of ninety-five. He peacefully transitioned to his eternal home on January 14, 2025, at the ELWA Hospital near Monrovia.
Mr. James C. Dennis, Sr., was affectionately called Daddy, Dad, and Grandfather. Uncle Jimmy, Cousin Jimmy, or Mr. Jimmy by his friends, colleagues, and family. He was a Distinguished Journalist, Publisher, Counsel General to Haiti, and founding Member of the Press Union of Liberia.
Mr. James C. Dennis, Sr. was an eminent citizen of the Republic of Liberia, a Pioneer of Liberia Journalism, a Founding Member of the Press Union of Liberia, and a renowned media activist.
He leaves behind a rich legacy that will be cherished by many. He is survived by three children, as well as a brother and sisters, along with numerous relatives residing both in Liberia, the United States, and around the world.
The Late Mr. James C. Dennis, Sr. was the son of the Late Honorable Charles C. Dennis, Sr. and the Late Isabel Mary Thomson Dennis, and brother of the Late Hon. C. Cecil Dennis, Jr., former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.
This announcement serves to inform the various Lodges, the First United Methodist Church, and friends and relatives of the significant loss.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Removal service – the removal for the late Mr. James C. Dennis, Sr. will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from the Samuel Stryker Funeral Service and will be taken to the First United Methodist Church for hours of wake-keeping from 6-9:00pm.
Funeral service – the funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun Street on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00am.
Interment- the late Mr. James C. Dennis, Sr. will be laid to rest at the Dennis Family Cemetery in Dennisville, Careysburg, Montserrado County on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
