It is with heavy hearts and deep regret that we, the Kalay family, unfortunately announce the unexpected passing of Mr. Ajavon JoePyne Kalay Sr.. A beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and dependable friend. He passed away peacefully, amongst his children Thursday morning at Doctors Community Hospital in Maryland while awaiting a transfer to John Hopkins Hospital.

Ajavon Kalay Sr. is survived by his 8 children; David Kalay, Oscar Kalay, Ajavon Kalay Jr., Khadijatu Lindsay, Albert Kalay, Blyden Kalay, Jardia Kalay, and Jargbah Kalay along with his other step children, and the mothers of his children Pamela Kalay, and Kay Kalay. His siblings include Edwin Kalay, Winston( Friday) Kalay, and Annette Kalay. Ajavon is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ajavon was predeceased by his Parents, David M. Kalay and Annette Jardia (Jodee) Kalay, his ex wife Annie Nicol-Kalay and his siblings Albert Chelley Kalay, Lawrence Saydee Kalay, and most recently Victoria Paulu Kalay.

Ajavon JP Kalay Sr. lived his life with faith, generosity, laughter, and love. He never hesitated to help others, and his presence brought joy to countless family members and friends. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.
