“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.”
With deep sorrow and much love, the Brent, Jackson, Pupo, Nah, Gbor, Bensonville Community, Bawn, Davis, Vanpelt, Scott, Hall, Garnett, Hallowanga, Tolbert, and Synder families announce the homegoing of their beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, grandmother, and friend, Maude Olive Muna Brent Jackson, affectionately known as Tita.
This sad event occurred on April 10, 2026, in Los Angeles, California, following a courageous battle with illness.
Maude was born on August 20, 1957, in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, unto the union of Cecelia Welleh Pupo Nah Brent and Amos Lafette Brent Sr. She was raised in Bensonville by her grandmother, Eva Scott, where she spent her formative years. She attended Euphemia Barkley High School and later Ricks Institute.
Maude embraced motherhood early in life, raising her son Maurice Clay Davis while working at the Freeport of Liberia. In May 1984, she was blessed with the opportunity to travel to the United States, where she first settled in Newark, New Jersey, staying with her cousin Yango Bracewell. She later moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to live with her aunt Mary Black and her two cousins, Roberta Rashid and John McClain Jr., where she spent most of her adult life.
While in Pittsburgh, Maude devoted herself to her family, her work in healthcare, and her faith in God. She was a committed church member, sang in the choir, and maintained strong bonds with family and friends both in Liberia and abroad.
In 2017, she relocated to Los Angeles, California, to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. During her time there, she continued working in healthcare, embraced her role as a grandmother, and created joyful memories with her family through outings to Disneyland, Six Flags, and beach trips.
In 2023, Maude was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Through it all, she remained prayerful and steadfast in her faith, believing in God’s grace and mercy until her final days.
Maude is survived by her husband, Ralph James Jackson; her children, Gospel Brent Jackson and Amos James Jackson; and her grandchildren: Maurice Clay Davis, Maurice James Jackson, Mercedes Jackson, and Matias Jackson.
She is also survived by her siblings: Pauline Brent Bawn, Cecelia Brent Gbor, Walter P. Brent, Gertrude Brent, Mayda Brent, Helen Brent Davis, Satta Brent Reaves, Miatta Brent Paye, Abigale Brent Togba, Janet Brent, Daisy Brent, Mary Fagans, along with a host of relatives and friends in Liberia, the United States, Canada, and other parts of the world.
She was predeceased by her son, Maurice Clay Davis; her brother, Amos L. Brent Jr.; her mother, Cecelia Welleh Pupo Nah Brent; and her father, Amos Lafette Brent Sr.
