MONROVIA, Sept 18 –The International Community in Liberia has frowned on a social media video which has recently been circulated – the body clarified that it has no connection to the reckless piece as was purported.
A social media piece has recently been circulated referring to the International Community as being the architect behind what seems to be a trail of unfounded allegations against the Liberian Government.
However, a joint statement from the International Community in Liberia issued here on Saturday via the United Nations Resident Coordinator, distances the body from the piece while clarifying that “the statements contained in the piece have no connection with the International Community in Liberia nor are we aware of any basis for any allegation contained in this piece.”
“We strongly condemn any attempt to link the International Community with these allegations which could threaten and undermine national security. We stress that those responsible must be held accountable,” the body cited.
The International Community in Liberia then reminded all political and media stakeholders of their responsibility to refrain from hate speech, disinformation, and violence especially in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
The body reaffirmed its continued commitment to peace and stability in Liberia.
