The Burphy, Shannon, Bruce and Minor families announce with profound regret the death of their beloved Mrs. Carolyn M. Dennis-George, of Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County. This sad event occurred on February 10, 2024 at the JFK Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia.
Carolyn worked at the National Port Authority for more than two decades in several capacities and served as the Chief Accountant until her retirement in 2004. She was also the owner and CEO of Shacahaco Business Center, and a long-standing Chairperson of Grand Cape Mount County Sports Association. Known as a dedicated community member, Carolyn will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around her. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her, and were blessed to be loved by her. Carolyn was pre-deceased by her husband Jeffery T. George, parents Thomas L. Burphy, and Caroline J. Burphy; her siblings Thomas L. Burphy, Ethel L. Addo, and Roland F. Burphy; and her brother-in-law Thomas B.A. Williams.
She leaves to mourn her loss, and cherish precious memories: four children Alma Minor (Shadrack II), Wilfred A. Bruce, Elyn J. Wright, and Carolyn D. George; her one and only grandchild Shadrack Minor III; her siblings Dr. Eugene Shannon (Loris Mardia), James V. Burphy (Comfort), Ellen W. Burphy, Amy M. Burphy-Williams, and Robert M. Burphy; her sister-n-law Nancy T. Burphy; and her dear friend Jontarr E. Johnson (Lawson). She is also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins, foster children, and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia, United States, Europe and around the world.
