With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the Bates and Sackie families announce the peaceful passing of our beloved David D. Bates Sr., who departed this life on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, in Careysburg, Liberia.
David was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a pillar of strength to all who knew him. His life was a reflection of humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to family and community.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Martha Bates, and his beloved children: Ophelia Bates, Davietta Bates, David D. Bates Jr., and Brenda Bates. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Ann, Annie, Alphonso, Etta, Teddy, Makiyah, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
David’s legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His memory will forever be a blessing.
A homegoing celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025. Additional details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days.
