The Jones, Kennedy, Dunbar, Diggs, Wuor, Mends-Cole and Bishop-Oshoko families regret to announce the untimely death of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, former professor, and statesman, Cllr. Marcus Roland Jones.
This sad event occurred on Friday, March 24, 2023, in Monrovia, Liberia.
Cllr. Marcus Roland Jones was a former County Attorney at the Ministry of
Justice, Republic of Liberia, Former Dean and Associate Professor at Law
at the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, Former
President of the Liberian National Bar Association, Republic of Liberia and
Mentor to countless professionals. He was Sole Proprietor of the Jones &
Associates Legal Consultancy.
During the 2005 elections, Cllr. Jones was one of the presidential aspirants.
He adapted the phrase “Who the cap fits, let them wear it” which later
became his professional slogan.
Cllr. Marcus Roland Jones was a graduate of the University of Liberia
where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business
Administration. He later matriculated to Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law,
University of Liberia, where he obtained his J.D. to practice Law.
Cllr. Marcus Roland Jones hails from Millsburg, Montserrado County and is
commonly known to his family as Boy-Junior. He was born on December
26, 1951, to the union of Mr. Paul Jones and Ms. Bennetta Kennedy in Montserrado County, Republic of Liberia (both parents deceased). Cllr. Marcus Roland Jones was predeceased by his parents, brother; Lawrence Jones, and son, Nyanka Jones.
He leaves in memory of his legacy his daughters, son, daughter-in-law, son-in-law:
Tenneh T. D Jones-Wuor, Marcusleen R. Jones, Mamenie Davies, Rev. James E.K. Barclay, Janet Barclay, and Mesaan Wuor.
Siblings: Remmie Ayo-Davies, Watta Jones, George F. Jones, Moore Jones, William Jones, Helena Jones, Adolphus Jones,
Grace Oshoko, Alex Bishop-Oshoko, Angeline BishopOshoko-Amoah, Thomas
Bishop-Oshoko, and Sylvester Diggs.
