(Sunrise: September 3, 1939 – Sunset: January. 11, 2021) The Masah Family announces with profound sadness and regrets the untimely death of their beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather, great grandfather, Mr. George P. Masah. This sad event occurred on January 11, 2021, in Caldwell, Liberia. Mr. Masah, affectionately known as “Chicken George” among his family and friends, was born on September 3, 1939, in Totota, Bong County, Liberia. He was a career diplomat who spent most of his adult life serving his country at various diplomatic posts in Europe and Asia. He began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Liberia, while still a student at the University of Liberia. In 1978, he received his first foreign assignment as Third Secretary to the Liberian Embassy in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). In 1982, he was promoted to Second Secretary and reassigned to the Liberian Embassy in Russia. After the embassy closed in 1985, he was transferred to the Liberian Embassy in India. In 1988, he was promoted to First Secretary and transferred to the Liberian Embassy in Romania, where he rose to the position of Counsellor and faithfully served until he retired in 2001 to join his wife and family in the United States. He returned home to Liberia in 2013 where he lived until his death. In a beautiful lifetime well-lived, “Chicken George” faithfully served his country, community and was a pillar of strength to his family and friends. He was a great husband, a God-fearing father and a dependable friend who touched many lives. He will be dearly missed by a host of family members and friends. He was predeceased in death by his lovely wife of 45 years, Mrs. Danielette Penick-Masah of Johnsonville, Liberia. He leaves to mourn his loss, his siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends in the United States and Liberia. Funeral Services over the remains of the Late George P. Masah will be held on February 20, 2021, in Caldwell, Liberia.
