York. She was born to the union of The Late Mr. James L. York, a prominent Liberian entrepreneur and Ms. Jeannette E. Banks in Monrovia, Liberia. This sad event occurred at the Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York on January 22nd, 2021 after a brief period of illness. She is predeceased by her father, Mr. James L. York; mother, Ms. Jeannette E. Banks; sister, Jamesetta York-White; brothers, Charles Williams and Edwin York; and grandson, Devars Johnson. She leaves to mourn her loss, celebrate her life, and cherish her memories four (4) children: Thelma (Calvin), Varsey (Gloria), Mammah, and adopted daughter, Dawn; grandchildren: Verda (Ellsworth), Cassandra, Edricka (Mahlon), Stanley, Iesha, Nacirema, Varsey, Jr., Wayne, Eric, Jannetta, Fatima, Alicia, Diamond, Tynia, Khadijah, Rasheen, Daniel; great-grandchildren: Abayomi, David, Montelis, Princeton, Chyna, Abin, Jordan, Elijah, Anlya, King, Josiah, Mariel, Leilanni, Heaven, Mahliya, Jaheem, Janiyah, Jayce; sisters: Lucinda, Hannah, Emily, Keturah (James), Saturia, Serina (Joseph), Victoria (James), and Aileen; brothers: Eisenhower, Jonathan (Nancy), Joseph (Eliza); sister-in-law: Loretta; only surviving aunt: Sarah Dean; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
