You fought a good fight and showed us true courage and strength. We remember now, in love, your life from start to end, and we are happy that we knew you and loved you as a mother and a friend.
It is with heartfelt sadness that the Witherspoon, Allen, and Miller families announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, and Friend, Mrs. Beatrice Witherspoon Allen Miller (Honeybunch), the Matriarch of the Witherspoon family. This sad event occurred at the Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News, Virginia on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Beatrice served as the Office Administrator of William N. Witherspoon (her father) Law Firm; Administrative Assistant as the Ministry of Justice; Director at the Ministry of Finance for 35 years; Pastor of several Churches; and owner of several small businesses in Liberia.
She is the Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star of Monrovia, Liberia; First Female Moderator for the Baptist Union Meeting; Dean at the Baptist Seminary; Member, Liberian Council of Churches; and Lay Reader at Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church
Honeybunch was predeceased by her father, William N. Witherspoon, her mother Elfrieda Bracewell White, husbands Burl Allen, Jr. and Randolph Miller, her sons Jimmy Bracewell (deceased on March 4, 2021) and Burl Allen, Jr., brothers William (Buzuben), Herbert, Amos, William Jr., Samuel David (SD), John Thomas (Boy) and James (Bill Spoon).
She leaves to mourn her loss her daughters Bernadine Allen Peabody and Brenda Allen Williams; son Burgess Allen; grandchildren John, Lyndon, Lawrenda, Lawren, Lawraine, Yuri, Jimmy Jr., Stephen and Samuel, and Toye; six great grandchildren; siblings Sarah, Zeline, Annette (Sister), Solomon, Lorenzo, Winona (Win), Elouise (Mozeline), Williametta (Metta), John David (John D); and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Due to the pandemic, attendance at home going services is restricted to family and close friends. Please be advised that seating capacity is limited due to COVID – 19 regulations. Mandatory social distancing and mask-wearing are required.
