
It is with deep sorrow and profound respect and honor that the WARD, HOOKE, CRAWFORD and SAVEY families announce the homegoing of our dear mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother Hon. Dr. AMELIA ANGELINE. HOOKE WARD, (commonly called Madam Ward) former Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs and a one-time Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Transportation of Liberia.
She was a dedicated public servant devoting over five decades of her life in service to the Government of Liberia, the Church, numerous Civic Organizations, local communities and families at home and abroad. She transitioned peacefully at her Sinkor Old Road (Gaye Town) residence on Monday February 10, 2025. at the age of 82 years.
She is survived by her daughters Oretha Ward, Beatrice Thompson, Clarissa Williams (Sam), and her grandchildren Selina, Gus, Josephine and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lucretia Williams, Hannah Kawaley, and Gifty Hooke, by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and very close friends. She is predeceased by her parents Christian and Asie Hooke, husband Moses S Ward and son Gethan, and her brothers Christian H Hooke Jr (Banky), Samuel Tonia Hooke, and Festus Quasie Hooke.
