There are some people whose lives quietly touch many others, who may never seek recognition, yet whose kindness leaves a lasting mark on every heart they meet. A life defined by compassion, generosity and faith.
To know her was to experience warmth, whether through her gentle words (sarcasm), her caring presence, or the comforting food she lovingly prepared. She had a special gift for nurturing others, especially children. A gift she prepared even during her latter days. Many remember her as someone who opened her home and her heart, always ready to guide, protect, and encourage the young people around her. To countless children, she was more than a caregiver—she was a source of comfort, wisdom, and love.
On Sunday, February 15, 2026, a matriarch of the Sharpes, Williams, and Davis families transitioned into a new state. Though she may no longer walk among us, the love, generosity, and compassion she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
“Ma Mary” leaves to reflect on her life and celebrate her legacy, her children: Arthur, Tonien, Henry (Beatrice), Musu Gloria (Hans-Peter), Miatta (Jerry Macauley), Major (Nahdee). Stepchildren: Jasoe (Cory Hargrove), James Gwehi (Hawa), Jesse (Bendu), Dakina (Nukolah), a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children and a community with whom she shared her last days filled with love, peace and happiness.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry G. Sharpe Sr. She will be missed dearly.
