The Woods, Kerkulah, Wonteh, Bedell, and Scott/Marshall families regret to announce the passing of their beloved father, brother, and uncle, Professor John T. Woods, who departed this life at JFK Memorial Hospital, Monrovia, Liberia on May 16, 2025, at the age of 86.
Prof. Woods was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Catherine G. Woods; his parents, Kerkulah Supuliah Tiyeleh and Pala Nupolo; and his foster parents, E. Tyson Woods and Viola Woods.
He is survived by his loving children: Lucinda Cooper-Thomas, Abrom Cooper (Alfreda), Dekote Mosindi (Mike—deceased), Musumani Woods (Zelda), and Pala Woods.
He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Bismarck Cooper (Joan), Akeem Thomas (Angie), Ashley Thomas, Janet Cooper, Azike Mosindi, Ngozi Mosindi, Jordin Woods, as well as his great-grandchild, Luca Thomas.
He is also survived by his siblings: Nowaii Kamara, James Woods, LadyVan Lahai, Ophelia Woods, Georgetta Brown and his sisters- and brothers-in-law, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Professor Woods was predeceased by the following siblings: Emile T. Woods, Osmond L. Woods, Roland Kerkulah Woods, Robert Kerkulah, Amahrue N. Woods, Waldron H. Woods, Randolph Woods, Albert Kemoh, Dempsey R. Woods, Gormah Kerkulah, Ruth Kerkulah, Alberta Togkpa, Nowaii Togkpa, and Clarice Karloweah.
