With deep sorrow and profound sadness, the Pedersen and Phelps families announce with heavy hearts the passing of James Martin Pedersen Sr. This sad event occurred on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Alaris Health – St. Mary’s in Orange, New Jersey following a brief illness.
James began his early education in Artington, Liberia and matriculated to Ricks Institute in Virginia, Liberia where he graduated from High School. He then migrated to the United States in the early 1970’s and completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brown University in New York. He obtained a Masters in Hospital Administration at St. John’s University in New York. He worked in the United States for many years. He was one of the founding members of the Liberian Christian Fellowship Church in Newark, New Jersey.
James leaves to mourn his wife of twenty-six years, Mrs. Vireder Phelps Pedersen; his sisters Ettie Pederson Wilson (Richmond – deceased), Olivia Pedersen, and Augusta Pedersen Taylor (Uriais); his two sons Shawn Warsaw and James M. Pedersen Jr. and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and family members. He was predeceased by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Pedersen of Artington and son Jerome Pedersen.
