It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of McJoseph “Kofi” Payne. Many also remember him from his time in Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana, where he was the proud co-owner of Area A Pool Room — a popular entertainment center that brought joy, laughter, and connection to countless refugees in the community.
He was the beloved son of Kow Attibah Otto and the late Rose L. Otto. McJoseph was one of seven siblings and is survived by Elizabeth Otto Asibu, Abraham Otto, George Atibah, Anthony Otto, Evon Otto, and Rebecca Alice Otto Jersey.
McJoseph leaves to mourn his children: Rose Payne Omofunma, Gerald Payne, and Tenesie Payne. He was also a proud grandfather to Valencia Jarbah, Jaden Omofunma, and Joy Omofunma, who will forever keep him in their hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any monetary gifts be sent via Zelle to his daughter Tenesie Payne at 503-406-5971
