The Jaywheh, Van Reken, Harvey, Gboyah, and Mason families regret to announce the sudden homegoing of their beloved son, brother, husband, father, nephew, and cousin, William Bowee Jaywheh, which occurred on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the 14th Military Hospital in Schiefflin, Margibi County.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Jaywheh; his adopted parents, Dr. David and Mrs. Ruth Van Reken; his children, Benjay Williams and Bowena Jaywheh; his sisters, including Esther Jaywheh, Sheri Underhill (Joshua), Rachel Thompson (Michael), Stephanie Eriksen (Jonathan), and Marsha Cleon; his brother, Joe Jaywheh; nephews including Rockefella Jaywheh (Rita), Patrick Jaywheh, Toman Gboyah, John Dahn, Congo Mellish, and Solomon Liberty; nieces Lisa Gardiner, Fortee Williams, Barwulu Jaywheh, Shara Liberty, and Shelia Clarke, as well as a host of other relatives, loved ones, and friends in the United States, Liberia, and around the world.
William, affectionately known as “Bowee,” was the very definition of a people’s person — full of life, laughter, and love. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and generous heart made him a magnet for people from all walks of life. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply his presence, Bowee had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. His sudden passing has not only left his family and friends in deep sorrow, but has created a void in the hearts of everyone who had the joy of knowing him.
