IT IS WITH HEAVY HEART, AND MUCH SADNESS, THE CHILDREN AND FAMILY REGRET TO ANNOUNCE THE HOME GOING OF VERGINIA SIEH TABALAH WLEHANYEN MUHLENBURG-THOMPSON. THIS SAD EVENT OCCURRED AT HER DAUGHTER RESIDENT IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
VERGINIA WAS BORN UNTO Mr. SIA TABALA MUHLENBURG AND MRS. GBEN TWEHDY HODGE- MUHLENBURG IN HOFFMAN STATION, MARYLAND COUNTY ON SEPT. 6, 1927. VERGINIA WAS BORN UNTO EPISCOPALIAN PARENTS. SHE WAS BAPTIZED AND CONFIRMED AT ST. MARK’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH HARPER CITY, MARYLAND COUNTY.
VERGINIA ATTENDED THE REV. WHITE METHODIST SCHOOL IN HARPER CITY , MARYLAND COUNTY.
VERGINIA WAS REARED BY HER UNCLE THE LATE JEROME MNA HODGE. TOGETHER WITH HER BROTHER THE LATE HARRY WAH MUHLENBURG, AND LATE JOTHANTAN HIMMIE SHANNON.
VERGINIA MARRIED TO THE LATE WILLIAM TECOMBLAH THOMPSON SR. POLICE COMMISSIONER LIBERIA NATIONAL POLICE FORCE MONROVIA, LIBERIA IN 1948. VERGINIA WAS GIVEN AWAY TO HER HUSBAND BY HER COUSIN THE LATE L. KWIA JOHNSON AS FATHER OF THE BRIDE. THE LATE ANNA HODGE-ROLAND REPRESENTED THE HODGE FAMILY AS MOTHER OF THE BRIDE.
SHE WAS AFFECTIONATE CALLED BY HER CHILDREN AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS MAMIE. GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT GRAND CALLED HER REEREE. SHE WAS ALSO CALLED SISTER, AUNTY VERGINIA, SUSU, COUSIN VERGINIA.
VERGINIA WORKED AS CLERK OF COURT IN THE COUNTY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE HARPER CITY, MARYLAND COUNTY .VERGINIA EARNED A CERTIFICATE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION. SHE TAUGHT AT THE MEGGY DENNIES FOUNDATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON CAMP JOHNSON, MONROVIA, LIBERIA.
IN 2008 MAMIE WAS AWARDED A CERTIFICATE IN RECOGNITION OF HER TIRELESS EFFORT, AND PARTICIPATION IN THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM BY ELIZABETH H. ROBERTS LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR, AND FRANK T. CAPRIO GENERAL TREASURE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND.
SHE FOUNDED THE WAHTINA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IN THE PHP NEIGHBORHOOD MONROVIA, LIBERIA WHERE SHE TUTOR CHILDREN.
MAMIE WAS A SEAMSTRESS THAT SEW FOR HER CHILDREN, FAMILY, FRIENDS AND OTHERS.
VERGINIA WORKED WITH THE MONROVIA CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL SYSTEM MCSS AS SUPERVISOR OF THE CAFETERIA AT THE WILLIAM R. TOLBERT JR. HIGH SCHOOL NOW D. TWEH HIGH SCHOOL BRUSH RHODE ISLAND. SHE WAS LATER ASSIGNED TO BOATSWAIN JR. HIGH SCHOOL JAMAICA ROAD BUSHROD ISLAND UP TO THE TIME OF HER RETIREMENT IN 1993.
VERGINIA IS SURVIVED BY HER SIX CHILDREN FOUR PREDECEASED HER. WILLIAM TECOMBLAH THOMPSON JR., ELIZA WILSON -SONNI, DELECIA EVELYN WHISNANT-FRIDAY, IRVIN MICKEY SONPON.
VERGINIA THREE SURVIVING DAUGHTERS QUEENIE W. THOMPSON, PATRICIA FATU SONPON BOTH OF PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND AND CHRISTINA K. WESLEY MONROVIA, LIBERIA.
VERGINIA ONE SURVIVING SISTER CECELIA T. ALLISON OF IRVINGTON, NEW JERSEY.
VERGINIA WAS THE SECOND OF SIX CHILDREN FOUR PREDEASEDHER THE LATE HARRY WAH MUHLENBURG, FELECIA MUHLENBURG-DAVIES, ALFRED SIA MUHLENBURG, AND THOMAS O’BRIEN HOWE.
VERGINIA IS SURVIVED BY THIRTY GRANDCHILDREN, SIXTY GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, AND THREE GREAT- GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.
MAMIE WAS A VERY AFFECTIONATE LOVING MOTHER TO ALL HER CHILDREN, GRAND CHILDREN, GREAT-GREAT CHILDREN, AND ALL FAMILY MEMBERS. MAMIE WILL BE MISSED BY ALL OF US.
VERGINIA NIECES AND NEPHEWS THAT BECAME HER CHILDREN INCLUDES STANLEY WAH MUHLENBURG PREDECEASED , WILLIAM YEMU MUHLENBURG PREDECEASED, SAMUEL YABA SHONNON, AND ESTHER HOWE.
MAMIE WAS A HARDING WORKING AMBITIOUS, DETERMINE, RESILIENT SINGLE MOTHER THAT RAISE CATTLES AS ANOTHER SOURCES OF INCOME TO SUSTAINED HER FAMILY.
DUE TO COVID, RESTRICTIONS THE FUNERAL SERVICE IS CLOSED TO IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND FRIENDS. EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO VIEW THE SERVICE THROUGH ZOOM.
THERE WILL BE ONE HOUR OF VIEWING AT 10:AM FOLLOW BY THE FUNERAL SERVICE AT 11:AM AT ALL SAINTS’ MEMORIAL CHURCH EPISCOPAL CHURCH 672 WESTMINSTER STREET PROVIDENCE RHODE ISLAND 02903 ON SATURDAY JAN. 16TH, 2021.
