With deep sorrow, the Selma, Kollie and the Momoh families announce the untimely passing of their beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and a great philanthropist, Mother Sonnie Kollie Selma. Ma Sonnie as she was affectionately called, unexpectedly transitioned on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the Staten Island University Hospital in New York.
As we all know, Ma Sonnie was an entrepreneur, smart, innovative, very kind, generous and immensely joyful. She will dearly be missed by all the lives she touched here in the US, Liberia, and around the world.
Ma Sonnie leaves to mourn her husband (David Ballah Selma), daughter (Mamie Younger Selma, and her parents who predeceased her. She is survived by her daughters, Kolue Jallah, Pinky Selma-Wesseh, Monigo Kolu Zowulu, and Patricia Selma, her brother Kollie G. Dorbor, and host of step and adopted children John Selma, Roland Selma, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several extended families.

Ma Sonnie’s body will be flown to Liberia on January 18, 2025, for interment.
