It’s with heavy heart, that the Galimah, Smythe, Holman, Grimes, & Brownell families announce the passing of their most beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Ms. Ruth Edweda Moco Galimah, on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia following a period of illness.
Ruth is survived by her siblings Caroline Grimes (Benoni), Mcharding Galimah (Amelia), Jallah Galimah, Hasty Galimah-Williams, Louise Galimah(aka, Ma Lou) & John Davis(Roberta); sibling-like cousins, Siatta Smythe, and Hardenia Smythe. Ruth’s memory will be cherished by her extended family, including numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of foster children, and a circle of treasured friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, the late Col. Jallah .K D. Galimah,Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Holman-Galimah. Ruth worked for the Central Bank of Liberia for many years, and recently retired. She was an active member, and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star- Liberia (OES). Ruth was a lifelong member of the Providence Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on several important leadership committees and auxiliaries, including the Board of Trustees, Naomi Circle, Financial Secretary to list a few. She will be greatly missed!
Removal
Her Remains will be removed from the Saint Moses Funeral home in Monrovia and escorted to the Masonic Temple on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. for a Masonic/Eastern Star Funeral ceremony.
Wake Keeping:
The wake will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia.
Funeral Service:
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Monrovia; Burial follows at the family cemetery in Royesville, Liberia.
