The Editor,
Can Henry Mamulu distinguish the difference between reality and a conspiracy theory?? The idea that a convicted war criminal “gave Liberia back to God” sounds like twisted thinking to me. But Taylor also give cocaine and AK-47 to Liberian kids who participated in rape, mutilation, and murder!! Does that sound godly to you, Henry?? Okay, okay, I agree: Some people have a strange inversion of values, and views Taylor differently.
But you cannot ignore the fact that Taylor-backed thugs committed some of the most unspeakable and heinous crimes in the history of Liberia and Sierra Leone. For those of us who lost loved ones in Liberia, it is painful to read, in a popular online magazine (TLC Africa), that Taylor is the “Son Who Gave Liberia Back to God: Free Charles Taylor”…. My younger brother, Finnbarr Scott was shot, and left to die like a dog, on the streets of Monrovia, by Taylor-backed thugs!
But hey, Henry Mamulu has every right to his opinion, even if I disagree with him. And TLC Africa has every right to pick and choose which article to publish or not publish, but no one have the right ignore the brutal atrocities brought upon our country by Taylor and his thugs!
Tragically, there are those who seem to be far more compassionate for a convicted war criminal than for his victims! Yes, some people do have a strange inversion of values. But as Adam Smith said “Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent”
Thank you for sharing my opinion with your readers!
