The R. Fole Sherman Family, the Kiahon Clan of Garwula District and the Fahnbulleh Clan of Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County announce with profound sadness the homegoing of R. Fole Sherman, Jr. (“Jute” as he was affectionately called and known by relatives and friends) on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
He was predeceased by his parents, R. Fole Sherman and Yatta Fahnbulleh-Sherman, and his siblings – Edith Sherman-Scott, Theresa Sherman-Pennoh, Rose Sherman-Bartie, Famatta Sherman-Mitchell, Anna N. Sherman, Joyce Sherman-Calhoun, Woah Sherman, and Florence Musu Sherman.
Jute is survived by his siblings – T. Siafa Sherman, Victoria Sherman-Britt, Cianna Sherman-Wotorson, Varney Sherman, Felicia Sherman-Boyce and Lao Sherman; his children – Robert Sherman, Gboto Sherman, Cianna Sherman, Facia Sherman and Yatta Sherman; his grandchildren – Bendukai Sherman, Miatta Sherman, Derrick Sherman, Gboto Sherman, Errol Sherman, Fole Sherman, Lizsher Sherman and Samira Gondoun; and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia and the United States.
Jute is a graduate of the University of Liberia (B.A., 1976) and the Institute of Social Science, Netherlands (M.A., 1980) in the field of Regional Development Planning. He was formerly an Assistant Minister at the Ministry of Planning & Economic Affairs, Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Liberia, Program Manager at UNDP/UN Habitat, Consultant at the Monrovia City Corporation, and Program Officer for Land Use & Management at the erstwhile Liberia Land Commission (now Liberia Land Authority).
