It was deep sadness that the Ajavon, Burphy and Ash families announce the peaceful passing of Myrna S. Ajavon on Saturday, September 28th 2024 at her home in Gaithersburg, Maryland during a prayer service by her bedside.
She is survived by her brothers, Carlos A. Ajavon, Jr. (Cleopatra ) and Nathaniel Gibson (Sienneh) her sister, Cecelia George (Newton), her bonus daughter, Yamah Ajavon; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends including, her devoted friends, Jandora Bemah and Sanoe McCauley who were also dedicated caregivers.
Her parents, Carlos A. Ajavon, Sr. and Ida Burphy Ajavon and sister, Ruby A. Harris predeceased her.
A nurse trained at the Tubman National Institute for Medical Arts (TNIMA) by profession, she served in the Mano River area in Liberia before relocating to the USA in the very early Eighties. Myrna was a family person. She worked diligently and hard until she got ill. Her kindness, easy going friendship, jokes, smiles and knack for renaming people will always be remembered. She will truly be missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at Church of the Ascension in Gaithersburg, MD.
