We, the Johnson, Wilson and Scott families are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and grandmother Ms. Amanda E. Johnson on the 31st of August, 2024 at 5:40 a.m. at the JFK Medical Center in Monrovia, Liberia.
Amanda was born on 02 July in Clay Ashland, Liberia where she lived with her parents and paternal family. As a child she also lived in Pleebo, Maryland County with her maternal grandparents.
Amanda moved to Monrovia as a young teenager and subsequently lived briefly in Yekepa, Nimba County with her mother and younger siblings as a young adult. Amanda then moved back to Monrovia, where she remained, until her untimely death.
Amanda found joy and comfort at Harvest Intercontinental Cathedral, Monrovia, where she exhibited her love for service to God and mankind cheerfully. Amanda’s memories will be cherished by her sons Mr. Sylvester Scott (Tonia), Francois Taylor (missing since the 1990 Liberian War), her mother Ms. Rachel-Ann Wilson, her sisters Mrs. Enda Clarke (Beyan-Deceased), Mrs. Oretha Roberson (Howard), Betty Johnson, Mrs. Valerie Stewart, her brothers, Mr. R. Martinus Johnson, Mr. Rodney L. Wilson Sr., Mr. J. Wesley Johnson, Mr. J Edmond Johnson, Jr. (Bonice), Mr. T. Weaseh Johnson (Olubusola), her maternal aunts Mrs. Magdaline Williams, Mrs. Williette Freeman and Mrs. Sylvestine Johnson; her paternal aunt Grace Johnson-Simpson, her five grandsons, one granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, grandniece, grandnephew, cousins, and other relatives and friends who live in Liberia, Europe and North America.
Amanda was predeceased by her father, Mr. J. Edmond Johnson, Sr. and her older sister, Ayo O. Johnson.
Funeral Details
Removal of body from Stryker Funeral Home on Friday, September 27th at 4pm for Wake Keeping from 5pm to 8pm and Funeral Service September 28th 10am to 12pm.
All services will be held at Harvest Intercontinental Cathedral, Tubman Boulevard, Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia.
A private burial service will be held in Clay Ashland on Sunday, September 29th, 2024.
Colors: Purple and gray at the wake and white at the funeral as a celebration of life.
