The Simmons/Berry Family & Friends Association (SBFFA), along with the Choloh, Toe, Goe, Sherman, & Morris families, announce that Deacon Abraham Teeweh Simmons, Jr., son of Bishop Abraham Teeweh Simmons, Sr. & Reverend Mother Cora Berry Simmons, transitioned peacefully from this life on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Alive Hospice Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA, after a brief illness.
Abe was preceded in death by his father, Bishop Abraham Teeweh Simmons Sr.; his mother, Rev. Mth. Cora Berry Simmons; his daughter, Melinda Simmons Shaw; and his sisters, Mrs. Cecilia Roberts, Ms. Comfort Alberta Simmons, and Reverend Dr. Naomi Simmons Seekie.
He leaves behind his son, Abraham Teeweh Simmons, III (wife – Joy Simmons), his two grandsons, Abraham Teeweh Simmons, IV and Noah Simmons; his son-in-law, Marcus Shaw, and his only granddaughter, Mia-Lin Shaw.
Additionally, Abe is survived by his loving siblings: Mr. Ernest (Mrs. Etta) Simmons; Minister Almatee “Dolly” Simmons, Reverend Dr. William Choloh (Rev. Dr. Marie) Simmons, Ms. Martha Simmons, Mrs. Evelyn (Dr. Alfred) Shaw, Reverend Dr. Herbert (Evg. Georgia) Simmons, Mr. Eric Simmons, and his baby sister, Evglst. Dr. Josephine Simmons Dennis (whom he affectionately called “Jojo”); his Aunt, Mth. Eva Toe, along with a host of loving and devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces. grandnephews, cousins, and many dear friends, colleagues, and employees.
Abe will be remembered for his wisdom, his generosity, and his unwavering faith. He was a man who lived with purpose, always striving to make a positive impact on everyone around him. His deep love for his family, his dedication to his faith, and his contributions to the community will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him well.
To honor his wishes, his remains will be taken home to Liberia, West Africa, to be laid to rest, after his final farewell to the United States.
