Mack Sackie Makor (72) of Cranston, Rhode Island, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2023, surrounded by his cherished family. Born on August 11th, 1951, in Farvey, Bong County, Liberia, Mack’s life was a testament to resilience, faith, and unwavering dedication.
As a young man, Mack’s determination and unwavering spirit guided him through challenging times. His commitment to service was marked by his role in bringing vital vaccines to rural areas, a testament to his dedication to improving lives.
In 1979, Mack’s journey led him to Jean Hurst, whom he married after a heartfelt long-distance courtship. His deep involvement with Auntie Cecelia’s West African Restaurant highlighted his support for family and community.
Mack’s 42-year tenure at Meller Optics was more than a job; it was a second family. His unwavering faith led him to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where his presence and ushering service left an indelible mark.
A man of profound humility and love, Mack’s home was a vibrant center, embracing Liberian culture and family values. His generosity extended beyond borders, aiding families from Liberia to the U.S.
Known as a selfless father figure and advocate for unity, Mack’s joyful, kind, and hardworking nature earned him love and respect. His absence leaves a void, yet his legacy of gratitude and family unity will endure. He is survived by his loving wife Jean. His sons and their wives – Kartoe, Kwayah & Nani, Sackie and Tianna. He also was a very devoted and proud grandfather to Nine grandchildren.
