The Grimes, Toomey, Bonwinkor, Williams, Korti, Jackson and Taynun families announce with profound sadness the death of our beloved mother, Sister, Aunt, Niece, Cousin, Grandmother Ms. Julia Sangbo Grimes Taynun.
The sad event occurred on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Island Clinic in Tweh Farm, Monrovia, Liberia. She was given her Bassa name, “Sangbo” by her late grandmother. The name Sangbo means, “stay with us.” It was given because back then three of her siblings died before their first birthday. Well, Julia lived up to her 54th birthday and March 2021 would had made her 55.
Julia was a wonderful, easy-going, friendly, loving, caring person, and a very devoted to her church and the service of the Lord.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Alfred Taynun, her loving children Princess Reed, Darius Adam Grimes, Levi Anderson, Elkana Taynun, and Alfreda Taynun; her siblings: Florence Jackson, Benoni Tarr Grimes (Caroline), Patricia Grimes, Edward Bonwinkor Grimes, and Jr, Janjay Grimes (Vivian); Her Aunts: Nancy Grimes Gbalafolo, Catherine Harris and Army Grimes; Her uncle: Joseph Toomey and Jerry Harris; Her nieces: Vedila Korti-Williams (Dio), Zoti Decontee, Baysah, Coretta, Corazon, Macucu, Massa, Sandie; Her cousins Lina Allison, Nikki Gbalafolo, Teenezee Jallah-Emeka, Augustine Noah Toomey, Alfred Toomey II, Augustus Tuesday Brown, Bobby Butler (Theresa), and Rufus Weekor; her four grand-children and several other relatives and friends of the United States, Europe and Liberia. Julia was predeceased by her parents, Edward B Grimes and Mary Toomey Grimes of Coffee-farm, Caldwell.
The funeral arrangement is as follows:
Wake Keeping: Silent wake on February 26, 2021 at the family Residence, Coffee-Farm, Caldwell, Liberia at 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Funeral: February 27, 2021 at Eagle Chapel Church,
Caldwell, Liberia at 10:00 am
Internment: will follow at the Down Street Lower Caldwell Cemetery in Caldwell, Liberia
