The Kegley, McVearry, and Kemokai families are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, William Matthew Kegley. William passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA.
A very loving husband, father, and friend, he was affectionately known as “Willy” and “Uncle Willy.” Cherished by all who knew him, especially within the DC area Liberian community, his warm and kind nature, combined with his unwavering love for family and friends, left an enduring legacy.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Jatu Kemokai Kegley, and his children: Ashley Kegley and Matthew Kegley. He is also survived by his two stepchildren, Abraham Belowe and Josephine Isaac, as well as his beloved granddaughter, Jolene Isaac.
In addition to his immediate family, William is mourned by his siblings, Steve Kegley, Sarah Williams, Scott Kegley, and David Kegley, and also mourned by Kelly Kegley, Xuan Kegley, Amy Kegley, and Dawn Kegley, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
