On Friday April 14, 2023, Onesimus G. S. Gayemen, a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, a friend, and founder of many organizations, including Joint Christian Choir Association (JCCA-USA), Bassa Hwio-dorr, Liberian Community Organization in the Lehigh Valley, African Immigrant Community of America (AICOMA), to name a few.
Onesimus was born on December 12, 1956, to Zenwhon and Zuumah Gayemen in Dorzohn, Grand Bassa County, Liberia, West Africa. Both parents predeceased him.
Onesimus started his early childhood education at the Elementary Demonstration School in Buchanan and continued at the Assembly of God Higher Secondary School. During his early childhood education, Onesimus met Dr. Abba G. Karnga, who adopted him as his son and mentor. Through the influence and connections of Dr. Karnga, Onesimus was accepted at ELWA a Christian radio station, where he later became one of the Broadcast Journalist and broadcaster of the Bassa programs. Onesimus then travelled to the United States in 1978 and studied Communication Arts and Social Psychology at The College of New Rochelle in New York.
Onesimus leaves to mourn, his loving wife Mai Gayemen, two daughters, Korwaypeso and Zuumah Gayemen, one son King Gayemen, one sister, Yonnien Gayemen, two brothers, Joe and Goodrich Gayemen, a grandson, and a granddaughter. Onesimus brother Daniel and sisters Watchie and Rebecca Gayemen, both predeceased him.
Wake keeping will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Both services would be held at:
