In Loving Memory of Mrs. Catherine Gyudede Woods

The Woods, Bedell, Shannon and Collins families announce with deep sorrow the passing of their beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Gyudede Woods, who departed this life on December 22, 2024, in Manassas, Virginia, USA.

Born on January 24, 1942, in Lagos, Nigeria, Catherine was the cherished daughter of Gyude Wah Ba Bedell and Wessie Too Shannon, who both predeceased her.

Catherine leaves behind her devoted husband of 56 years, John T. Woods, and her loving children: Lucinda Cooper-Thomas, Abrom Cooper (Alfreda), Dekote Mosindi (Mike—deceased), Musumani Woods (Zelda), and Pala Woods.

She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Bismarck Cooper (Joan), Akeem Thomas (Angie), Ashley Thomas, Janet Cooper, Azike Mosindi, Ngozi Mosindi, and Jordin Woods, as well as her great-grandchild, Luca Thomas.

She is also survived by her siblings: Roland Bedell, Maureen Bedell, Edith Bedell, Siede Bedell, Monday Bedell and Nowaii Kamara; along with her sister/cousin, Charlotte Bedell, and brother/cousin, David Vinton.

She is also survived by her sisters- and brothers-in-law, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Catherine was predeceased by the following siblings: Joseph Dele Bedell, Melebo Dada Bedell, Sunday Dorbor Bedell, and Gray Harmon.
