Beloved mother of Sheryl Dunweh Sharpe, Shantel Conweh Sharpe, adopted children, James S. Scott (Samline) Ruth Scott, Janet Beyan and Gideon G. Zeekor. Loving sister of Ralph J. Curtis (Jamesetta) J. Robert Harvey (Joyce) Larine Harvey Mathies (Edwin) Julius “Pops” Marshall (Teresa) Senora A. Marshall (Donald) Joyce Hayes Hoggard (Elvis), Tonia Hayes Cooke-Flowers (Edwin) Ermett Hayes, Lela H. Hayes Samuels (Abraham), Emmett E. Hayes, II (Linda), Jackie Hayes Diallo (Umaru) and Nancy Zoe Hayes.
Gitler was predeceased by her parents, Deacon Emmett E. Hayes, Sr., Clarice Simpson Marshall and Nancy Jackson Hayes, her siblings, Nathaniel King, Roland J. Curtis, Ernestine Hayes and her paternal Grandparents, Jesse Oliver Hayes and Mary Louise Wilson-Hayes; who nurtured and raised her after the demise of her mother.
Gitler’s memory is cherished and loved eternally by her aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, her adopted family of others she selflessly took under her wings, and a host of kind & dearest friends; some known as sisters.
