With heavy hearts and immense gratitude for a life well lived, the Bush and Graham families announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend, Elsie Marie Graham Bush. This sad event happened on Friday, September 5, 2025, at her home in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Born on June 25, 1938, in Jacksonville, Georgia, Elsie lived a remarkable life of faith, love, and service. After graduating from Boylan-Haven School and Clark College, she married the love of her life, James Henry Bush, and made Monrovia, Liberia, her home. Together they raised three children: Barbara (Peaches), Brenda and James, Jr., built a family business, and created lasting bonds within their church and community.
She later returned to the United States, where she cherished time with her children and grandchildren, always offering wisdom, strength, and humor. She was predeceased by her husband, James Sr., and her siblings, and will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends who knew her as “Nana.”
