With profound sadness and heavy hearts, yet with hope in the resurrection, the George, Coleman, Thomson, Carter and Wordsworth families, join the many relatives, friends and acquaintances in Liberia, USA and around the world, in mourning the death and celebrating the life of Deaconess J. Eva Coleman George. This sad event occurred at the age of 104, on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Monrovia, Liberia, after a brief illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children: Edith Thomas (William), YornwehOphelia Clemons, Alfred George, Peter Amos George, Jr., Petrina Chesson (Wendell), Marie Mitchell, Mai Sirleaf Werner (Dag-Finn), Harriet George-Whisnant, Mornjay George-Pratt (Reginald), Joan Sayakon George, Naweh P. A. Scott (Abayomi), Motima George (Joyce), Sayea George-Wrimene (John), Tonia Cooper; her sister Claudia A. Nelson, a host of devoted grandchildren, great grand-children, nephews, nieces, cousins, acquaintances, and the Providence Baptist Church family.
FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:
REMOVAL & REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the remains of the late Deaconess J. Eva George will be removed from the A. B. Anderson Funeral Home, Lynch Street, at 2:00 p.m. and taken to the Providence Baptist Church, Broad, Center and Ashmun Streets for a Remembrance Service from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
All Sympathizers and Well Wishers who would love to pay their tributes to our dearest J. Eva, please do so at the Remembrance Service on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
FUNERAL SERVICE & INTERMENT
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Funeral Service will be held at Providence Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Please be informed that only the Government of Liberia, the Church, and the Immediate Family of the Deceased, will give tributes during the Funeral Service.
Following the funeral service, the remains of the late Deaconess J. Eva George will be taken to the Carter Cemetery, White Plains, Montserrado County, for interment.
