It is with heavy hearts that the Smith and Mayson families announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, Christian Roosevelt Smith, Sr.
Christian departed this life on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 7:15 p.m., following an illness. He was 86 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Raymond Smith Sr. and Augusta Campbell Mayson; his siblings, Luvenia Smith, Lincoln Smith, J. Oscar Smith, Edna R. Smith, Samuel R. Smith, Jr., Foday Smith, Varney Smith, William Alfred Smith, Henry Gant, Henry Mayson, and Grace Mayson-Hare; and his beloved children, Frances Smith and Samuel Smith.
Christian is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings: Victoria I. Mayson, Sophie G. Mayson Barclay, Euphemia N. Mayson, Marion R. Mayson King, Janet Mayson Josephine O. Mayson, Joyce Smith Johnson, Sara Renee Smith, Byrle Victoria Smith-George, and Shadrach B. Smith, Sr.
His legacy lives on through his children: Laura Smith; Christian R. Smith (Bendolyn); Araminta Yvette Miles (Jesse), Lisa Goodlin, Augusta Smith, William Smith, and Grace Smith, as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory.
Christian will be remembered for his strength, wisdom, and enduring love for family. His life touched many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
