It is with profound sorrow, but with total submission to the will of Almighty God, that Min. Angela C. Butler, the Baker Family, and Christ Miracle of Faith Abundant Life Ministries announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, spiritual mother, and General Overseer, Bishop Comfort E. Baker, who transitioned to glory on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the age of 87.
Comfort Edmolene Baker was born on June 21, 1939, in Harper, Maryland County, Liberia, to Joseph Baker and Edmonia Williams Baker. She was the eldest child of their union. She attended Reverend White AME Primary School and graduated from Cape Palmas High School before traveling to London, England, in the late 1950s to pursue nursing. While in London, she met and later married Milo Boughton Butler, Jr., and their union was blessed with a daughter, Angela Butler, in 1961.
Bishop Baker devoted her life to the service of God and humanity. A Registered Nurse and Medical Officer by profession, she served with the Peace Corps for more than twenty years. She later answered the call of God and became the Founder and General Overseer of Christ Miracle of Faith Abundant Life Ministries, as well as the founder of the Mother Comfort Christ Miracle of Faith School System.
She was a devoted woman of God, prayer warrior, healer, peacebuilder, educator, and community servant whose life touched countless people throughout Liberia and beyond.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Angela Butler, and son, Slamel Farhat; grandchildren Achim Abdallah (Marcelle), Cherifa Abdallah Yattsassaye (Nouhoum), Comfort-Juanita Butler-Freeman, Samia Farhat, and Mason Farhat; great-grandson Aboubacar Yattassaye; siblings Jemima Baker, Charlotte Ibrahim, Walter Baker (Zoe), James Baker, and Emmanuel Baker (Dolly); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, spiritual children, church members, friends, and loved ones.
